[Comparison of the results of the measurement of O2 consumption with a conventional bacteriologic method for urine obtained by bladder puncture].

A method is described which utilizes the O2 consumption of aerobes and facultative aerobes from urinary tract infections for their detection. Urines obtained by puncture and the corresponding midstream urines were examined for verification. Irrespective of secondary contamination and the presence of non-causative organisms, the O2 consumption method permits the detection of a bacterial urinary tract infection within 1 h.

[Low pressure resection--a new method for prevention of complications in transurethral resection of bladder neck adenoma].

The advanced age and resulting polymorbidity of our patients are a great risk in the post-operative treatment of adenomas of the vesical cervix. TUR with low-pressure irrigation is clearly superior to the continuous-rinse resectoscope due to the greater reliability of its suction and is a good method of operative therapy for these old patients due to the low stress it places on them, and can thus clearly improve the quality of their lives.

[Use of a long term irrigation resectoscope (Iglesias) in the transurethral resection (TUR) of the bladder neck adenoma].

The initial euphoria which was given to the permanent irrigation resectoscope yielded a sober way of consideration. In a critical estimation of the new instrument, in our opinion, the 10 advantages, which iglesias emphasizes with regard to this device, may be reduced to three: 1. Shortening of the operation time or prolongation of the "pure resection time".

[Management of urethral stricture using the sight urethrotome].

The results of the urethrotomies performed in our clinic appear encouraging after a duration of control of two years. Longterm results are not yet present. The preferences of this method consist in the easy performability and the possibility of the repetition in restricturation.
