Rabbit erythrocyte membranes lyzed by Xenopus laevis serum exhibited a typical ultrastructural complement lesion with an inner diameter of 80 +/- 9 A. The protein pattern associated with lyzed membrane is compared to a similar human preparation.

Besides classical morphological symptoms, a decrease of activities of some biotin-dependent enzymes was also observed. The biotin-enzymes are not inhibited at the same extent in a same organ and the metabolic changes do not always follow the enzymatic modifications.
