Children and Adolescents and Young Adults with cancer represent a young population with specific needs, which need to be addressed in a patient- and cancer-driven way. There is an urgent need to support and extend the ongoing initiatives in Belgium. First, multidisciplinary care programmes dedicated to children need to be reviewed, and those for Adolescents and Young Adults need to be developed with close collaboration between paediatric and adult oncology and haematology teams.

Metastatic breast cancer (MBC) remains an incurable disease, despite major advances in the treatment in the past 10-12 years. Data on real life overall survival in a non-selected group containing all metastatic breast cancer patients are hard to find in the literature, as is the correlation of their survival with prognostic factors and treatment. This article provides overall survival data for all patients treated for MBC in a single-centre non-academic hospital.

Introduction: This prospective observational study examined the adherence to published European guidelines on erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) and the pattern of use and effect of darbepoetin alfa (DA) 500 microg once every 3 weeks (Q3W) for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced anaemia (CIA).

Materials And Methods: A total of 293 patients were included (263 solid tumour, 30 haematologic malignancy). Their mean age was 63 years, 51% were male, 57% had platinum-based chemotherapy.
