Anatomical and histological observations on the tongue of one-humped camel, Camelus dromedarius.

The camel has a typically elongated mammalian tongue, which tapers to a dorsally flattened tip. The filiform papillae are mostly of the simple type which are scattered over the dorsum and the lateral edges of the tongue. The fungiform papillae are scattered among the filiform papillae.

Cholinergic innervation of the cornea and iris of the guinea pig.

Cholinergic innervation of the cornea and iris of the newborn and adult guinea pig was studied by the technique of Karnovsky and Roots (1964). The given structures are both richly innervated. The cholinesterase reaction of the cornea is more strongly positive in adult animals, whereas the intensity of the reaction of the iris in newborn and adult guinea pigs is almost identical.

A histochemical study on the innervation of the pancreas of the one-humped camel (Camelus dromedarius).

Autonomic innervation of the pancreas of the camel has been studied using histochemical techniques for the demonstration of adrenergic and cholinergic (acetylcholinesterase-positive) nerves. Both extrinsic and intrinsic innervation of the pancreas were found. Distinct peri-acinar, perivascular, peri-insular and periductal plexuses were found as well as both adrenergic and cholinergic ganglia.

Anatomical and neurohistological observations on the heart of the rose ringed parakeet, Psittacula krameri.

Anatomy, histology and innervation of the heart of the rose ringed parakeet, Psittacula krameri have been studied in the present investigation. The sinuatrial node is found to be well-developed. It is located towards the right side of the cephalic end of the interatrial septum and composed of a few nucleated cells and a large fibrous mass.
