Purpose: The feasibility of laparoscopic colectomy for colon surgery has now been well established. Scans of the liver and spleen were reviewed for patients with carcinoma of the large intestine. The patients were divided into groups, depending upon the size of the liver and spleen. Those with enlarged spleens tended to have an increased survival time compared with those without splenomegaly.
