Purpose: To perform the validation of the GPU-based (Graphical Processing Unit based) proton Monte Carlo (MC) dose engine implemented in a commercial TPS (RayStation 10B) and to report final dose calculation times for clinical cases.

Materials And Methods: 440 patients treated at the Proton Therapy Center of Trento, Italy, between 2018 and 2019 were selected for this study. 636 approved plans with 3361 beams computed with the clinically implemented CPU-MC dose engine (version 4.

Purpose: This work compares Monte Carlo dose calculations performed using the RayStation treatment planning system against data measured on a Varian Truebeam linear accelerator with 6 MV and 10 MV FFF photon beams.

Methods: The dosimetric performance of the RayStation Monte Carlo calculations was evaluated in a variety of irradiation geometries employing homogeneous and heterogeneous phantoms. Profile and depth dose comparisons against measurement were carried out in relative mode using the gamma index as a quantitative measure of similarity within the central high dose regions.

The functionality of fish protein hydrolysates (FPH) for the microencapsulation of fish oil was investigated. Muscle protein from sardine (Sardina pilchardus) and horse mackerel (Trachurus mediterraneus) was hydrolysed using Alcalase or trypsin. Physically stable emulsions suitable for spray-drying were obtained when using FPH with a degree of hydrolysis of 5%.
