Background: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is increasingly used to treat lung metastasis (LM) in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) and bone sarcoma (BS).

Methods: This retrospective study evaluated the outcomes of patients with BS and STS treated with SBRT for LM between 2010 and 2023.

Results: We enrolled 102 patients (51 each with STS and BS), of whom 71 were males and 31 were females (median age, 40 years; range, 11-81 years).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explores in-hospital mortality risk factors for older patients (60+) during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the ongoing impact of COVID-19 as endemic disease, particularly for those with multiple health issues.
  • - Utilizing data from the Gerocovid-acute wards, researchers incorporated 71 variables into a machine learning platform to identify key prognostic factors affecting mortality, avoiding selection bias and enabling extensive model testing.
  • - The analysis revealed that, alongside traditional health metrics, pre-COVID-19 mobility emerged as a critical predictor of in-hospital mortality, highlighting its importance in risk assessment for older patients.

These atypical presentations may include paradoxical diarrhea, fecal incontinence, urinary retention or overflow incontinence, hyperactive or hypoactive delirium, anorexia/dysphagia, and syncope.

Introduction: Frailty is associated with adverse outcomes among patients attending emergency departments (EDs). While multiple frailty screens are available, little is known about which variables are important to incorporate and how best to facilitate accurate, yet prompt ED screening. To understand the core requirements of frailty screening in ED, we conducted an international, modified, electronic two-round Delphi consensus study.

Background: The Surgical Accredited & Trained Healthcare Initiative (SATHI) project demonstrates how community healthcare workers (CHWs) with merely 8 y of formal schooling and training for a short period can reduce unmet surgical needs.

Methods: A pilot study was carried out in the slums of a metropolitan city in India to know the effectiveness of a SATHI in reducing the burden of unmet surgical needs. In total, 12 730 people from 3000 households were included in the study for a duration of 6 months.
