Universal Mental Health Screening Practices in Midwestern Schools: A Window of Opportunity for School Psychologist Leadership and Role Expansion?

The conducting of universal mental health screening is one widely endorsed practice suitable for use within P-12 school settings to more proactively identify children and young people experiencing or displaying characteristics of a mental health disorder. Absent routine screening, many school-age youth with mental health concerns, especially those of an internalizing nature, may go unidentified and left without timely treatment, support, and services. The current study, which employed survey methodology with principal respondents from four Midwestern states, primarily sought to contribute to and update the literature on the universal mental health screening practice habits of P-12 schools.

Exceptional-point-based accelerometers with enhanced signal-to-noise ratio.

Exceptional points (EP) are non-Hermitian degeneracies where eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenvectors coalesce. Recently, EPs have attracted attention as a means to enhance the responsivity of sensors, through the abrupt resonant detuning occurring in their proximity. In many cases, however, the EP implementation is accompanied by noise enhancement, leading to the degradation of the sensor's performance.

Consideration-of-concept of EvolvRehab-Body for upper limb virtual rehabilitation at home for people late after stroke.

Objective: EvolvRehab-Body is a non-immersive virtual rehabilitation system that could provide high-dose, exercise-based upper limb therapy after stroke. This consideration-of-concept study investigated: adherence rate to prescribed repetitions; viability of repeated measures in preparation for a dose-articulation study; and preliminary signal of potential benefit.

Methods: Pre-post and repeated measures with people at least six months after stroke.

Factors in Psychiatric Admissions: Before and During the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted community mental health, but the effect on psychiatric admissions is unknown. We investigated factors contributing to acute psychiatric admissions, and whether this changed during the first UK lockdown.

Method: A retrospective case-note review study with an exploratory mixed-methods design to examine factors for psychiatric admissions following the first UK 2020 lockdown compared to the same time periods in 2019 and 2018.
