Practices and views about palliative care at the end of life: A survey of oncologists from the Italian region of Liguria.

Introduction: We conducted an online survey to investigate oncologists' clinical practices and views on palliative care at the end of life in the Italian region of Liguria.

Methods: The survey included 29 items divided into three sections: participant characteristics (n=6), hospital resources and practices (n=11), participant practices and views (n=12).

Results: Twenty-one of the 41 medical oncologists invited completed the survey (51%).

Pain in non-communicative older adults beyond dementia: a narrative review.

Aging is associated with an increased risk of developing pain, especially in the presence of concurrent chronic clinical conditions. Similarly, multimorbidity can affect the perception and ability of older adults to appropriately respond to and communicate pain, and there is a clinical heterogeneity in the processing of painful sensations in different neurological conditions. The present narrative review is aimed at assessing the prevalent diseases associated with poor communication and pain in older adults, together with the available diagnostic instruments for the clinical assessment of pain in such a vulnerable population.

Plastid dynamism integrates development and environment.

In land plants plastid type differentiation occurs concomitantly with cellular differentiation and the transition from one type to another is under developmental and environmental control. Plastid dynamism is based on a bilateral communication between plastids and nucleus through anterograde and retrograde signaling. Signaling occurs through the interaction with specific phytohormones (abscisic acid, strigolactones, jasmonates, gibberellins, brassinosteroids, ethylene, salicylic acid, cytokinin and auxin).

Patterns of care at the end of life: a retrospective study of Italian patients with advanced breast cancer.

Objectives: To better understand the type of care offered to Italian patients with advanced breast cancer at the End-of-Life (EoL), we conducted a retrospective observational study. EoL was defined as the period of six months before death.

Methods: One hundred and twenty-one patients with advanced breast cancer (ABC) treated at IRCCS San Martino Policlinic Hospital who died between 2017 and 2021 were included.
