Background: Sporadic Alzheimer's Disease (sAD) is the most prevalent progressive neurodegenerative disease worldwide, without a cure. We propose to investigate therapies that contribute to the current state of this problem using a model of sAD in rats based on a single intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of streptozotocin (STZ). In this sense, thymulin (originally known as serum thymic factor, FTS), a thymic peptide, emerges as a potential therapeutic agent due to its proven anti-inflammatory effects.

Correlation of Performance on the ENTRUST Assessment Platform With Other Variables in Competency-Based Surgical Education.

Objective: With the implementation of American Board of Surgery (ABS) Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), there is continued need for objective, evidence-based assessment tools to augment existing microassessments and inform readiness for entrustment. The ENTRUST Assessment Platform is an online virtual-patient simulation platform to assess trainees' surgical decision-making competence across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care. This study collects additional validity evidence for the ENTRUST platform in its relationship to other established variables in competency-based surgical education.

Pretreated sugarcane bagasse matches performance of synthetic media for lipid production with Yarrowia lipolytica.

Engineered strains of Yarrowia lipolytica with modified lipid profiles and other desirable properties for microbial oil production are widely reported but are almost exclusively characterized in synthetic laboratory-grade media. Ensuring translatable performance between synthetic media and industrially scalable lignocellulosic feedstocks is a critical challenge. Yarrowia lipolytica growth and lipid production were characterized in media derived from two-step acid-catalyzed glycerol pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse.

Association of inpatient postpartum recovery with patient-reported outcome measures following hospital discharge: a prospective cohort study.

Background: The relationship between the quality of inpatient versus outpatient obstetric postpartum recovery is under-explored. We examined the association between inpatient reported quality of recovery with outpatient global recovery, pain severity, pain interference, anxiety, and depression screening scores postpartum.
