Article Synopsis
  • The ETERNAL-LVO trial examines the effectiveness and safety of tenecteplase for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) within 24 hours of stroke onset, compared to standard care.
  • The study is a randomized phase 3 trial involving patients with anterior circulation LVO and target mismatch on imaging, focusing on those who may need endovascular treatment.
  • Key outcomes include measuring disability at 3 months using the modified Rankin Scale, alongside safety assessments like the incidence of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage and overall mortality.

Background: Recommencement of oral anticoagulation (OAC) for patients post-intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) remains a challenging decision for clinicians. High-quality evidence to assist with this decision is lacking and current guidelines primarily focus on balancing thromboembolic and bleeding risk.

Objective: This study evaluated the literature and current guidelines for recommencement of OAC in patients who have experienced an incident ICH.

Background: Treatment for pulmonary embolism has expanded to include Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs). The incidence of pulmonary-embolism (PE) in "oldest-old" age group (≥85 years) is rapidly increasing, but there is limited research on its management and clinical outcomes.

Aim: To examine the differences in management and outcomes in those aged ≥85 years compared to other age groups.

Introduction: The present study sought to examine the relationships between systemic inflammatory composite ratios/cumulative scores, magnitude of systemic inflammatory response (SIR) and survival in good performance status patients (ECOG-PS 0/1) with advanced NSCLC receiving palliative radiotherapy.

Methods: Systemic inflammatory composite ratios/cumulative scores included the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), C-reactive protein, (CRP)-albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil- lymphocyte score (NLS), platelet-lymphocyte score (PLS), lymphocyte-monocyte score (LMS), neutrophil-platelet score (NPS), modified Glasgow prognostic score (mGPS). The magnitude of SIR was determined by serum CRP concentration, with a median CRP concentration of >10 m mg/L considered to be systemically inflamed.

Employees are entitled to work in an environment that upholds their dignity and respect, but bullying still exists in many disciplines, including in nurse education and nursing practice. Researchers have suggested that to address bullying employers need to intervene at team and/or organisational level rather than focusing solely on the individuals involved. To reduce the incidence of bullying and other adverse social behaviours in the workplace, many higher education institutions and healthcare organisations have developed dignity and respect (D&R) policies.
