Background: Low birth weight (LBW) is a health condition that affects over 20 million gestational outcomes worldwide. The current literature indicates that machine learning models have the potential to assist healthcare professionals in predicting LBW and giving them the opportunity to intervene earlier in the pregnancy, which might include adjusting medical treatments or suggesting changes in diet.

Purpose: This study proposes the evaluation of machine learning models to predict which pregnant women are at risk of neonatal outcomes with LBW.

The combination of materials to improve properties of interest has become one of the strategies widely used for numerous applications, including new catalysts, over the last few decades. In this study, silver molybdate (β-AgMoO) microcrystals were efficiently obtained by the hydrothermal method, obtaining composites with different amounts of graphene oxide (GO) (1, 2.5, 5, 7.

Lymphangiomas are rare benign tumors that result from lymphatic vessel malformations and/or obstructions commonly on the neck and armpits, being rare in the retroperitoneal space. We report a case of a healthy 25-month-old male with a six-month history of abdominal distension and recurrent episodes of diarrhea who was clinically diagnosed with giardiasis. The complementary evaluation showed a cystic formation occupying the whole abdominal cavity and implanted at the abdominal retroactivity.

Article Synopsis
  • Salt stress negatively impacts plant growth, prompting researchers to explore Ca-complex sources as a way to mitigate these effects in sour passion fruit seedlings.
  • The study involved a randomized block design with different cultivars, salinity levels, and Ca-complex sources to assess their impact on various physiological traits over 60 days.
  • Results indicated that using Ca-complex sources, particularly those with amino acids, significantly improved water use efficiency and reduced cell membrane damage, suggesting their effectiveness in supporting plant health under moderate salinity stress.

Modified theranostic liposomes were created by combining phospholipid 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-3-glycerol-phosphatidylcholine with two previously modified Pluronic copolymers covalently linked with spermine and folic acid to carry and stabilize the photosensitizer compound hypericin. After physicochemical characterization, the photocytotoxicity was evaluated against different cancer and healthy cells presenting a strong photodynamic effect. The formulation exhibited no photoactivity without illumination and without hypericin.
