[Sclerosing polycystic adenosis of the parotid gland : surgical treatment of an extensive lesion of deep tissue without superficial damage].

Sclerosing polycystic adenosis (SPA) is a rare benign epithelial lesion of the salivary glands, of unknown etiology, mainly affecting the parotid gland. We report the first clinical case of SPA involving the deep parotid gland with extension in the parapharyngeal space and the masticatory region. It has been resected by an external parotidectomy approach exclusively, despite the median extension of the lesion.

Evolution in the management of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma: systematic review of outcomes over the last 25 years.

The treatment of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) has evolved over the last 25years, from open surgery to combined chemoradiotherapy, and now to the development of minimally invasive procedures, but evidence for the best treatment is lacking. We therefore did a systematic search of the MEDLINE database for studies published between 1992 and 2017 that reported oncological or functional outcomes, or both. Predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria were used for screening and selection, and 45 studies were chosen.

Experimental Validation of Plastic Mandible Models Produced by a "Low-Cost" 3-Dimensional Fused Deposition Modeling Printer.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate the accuracy of 3-dimensional (3D) plastic (ABS) models generated using a low-cost 3D fused deposition modelling printer.

Material/methods: Two human dry mandibles were scanned with a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) Accuitomo device. Preprocessing consisted of 3D reconstruction with Maxilim software and STL file repair with Netfabb software.

Suspension sutures in facial reconstruction: surgical techniques and medium-term outcomes.

The purpose of this study was to assess the medium-term results of using thread-lift sutures as a means to support soft tissues in facial reconstructive surgery. The rationale for the introduction of this method was to provide support for tissues used in the reconstruction in cases where this would otherwise have been difficult to achieve, or would have demanded major additional surgery in patients already undergoing major surgical procedures. The outcome of the procedure was assessed 12 and 24 months after surgery.
