Introduction: Airway inflammation is a known pathological feature of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We examined the effect of inhaled salmeterol, alone and in combination with fluticasone propionate, on the management of patients with COPD.
Methods: Forty male COPD patients were randomly divided into two groups; group 1 (n=20) were treated with long-acting ß2-agonist, and group 2 (n=20) with long-acting ß2-agonist and inhaled glucocoticoid each day for 3 months.
Objectives: We retrospectively examined our clinical data on hydatic cysts of the liver collected over the last 10 years in order to determine a classification which could be used to guide future therapeutic decisions.
Methods: From 1982 to 1992, hydatic cysts of the liver were surgically removed in 378 patients (mean age 38 +/- 12 years). Echography had been performed in all patients.

The authors report a case of Peutz-Jeghers syndrome in a young patient revealed by a duodenal carcinoma developed in a hamartomatous polyp. The absence of adenomatous lesion a the level of duodenal tumour, and the presence of hamartomatous lesions, particularly smooth muscular fibres, contiguous to carcinomatous glands, are favorable to a degenerescence of hamartomatous polyp. The question of malignant change or of the association of digestive carcinomas is discussed.
