This study introduces a novel and sustainable approach using Ionic Liquids (ILs) as a non-innocent solvent that enhances the performance of the basic catalysts to depolymerize polyurethane foam wastes (PUFWs) through hydrolysis, alcoholysis or aminolysis under mild conditions. The system is stable, fully recoverable, and reusable. Hydrolysis of PUFWs can occur in just 2 minutes at 95-98 °C, producing a white polyol that is easily separated and reused in new polyurethane synthesis.

Aqueous vitrification (glass formation) processes are integral to modern cryopreservation, but experimental methods by which to study them are limited, particularly at the mL volume scales relevant to many biomedical applications. Here, we introduce an inexpensive custom optical platform, the isochoric vitrification cryo-macroscope (or "isovitriscope"), to supplement standard techniques with new qualitative and quantitative data streams. The platform consists of an LED light source, a isochoric (constant-volume) chamber with sapphire optical windows, and a camera, which can operate in two modes.

A sustainable approach for CO capture and chemo-enzymatic transformation into bis(cyclic carbonate) esters from CO, glycidol, and organic anhydrides under solvent-free conditions has been demonstrated. The chemo-enzymatic process is based on two consecutive catalytic steps, which can be executed through separated operations or within a one-pot combo system, taking advantage of the synergic effects that emerge from integrating ionic liquid (IL) technologies and biocatalysts. In a first step, lipase-catalyzed transesterification and esterification reactions of different diacyl donors (e.

Mining is responsible for the release of metallic pollutants and radioactive materials into the environment, which have the potential to disrupt ecosystems and pose significant risks to human health. Significant mining activity is concentrated in the municipality of Caetité (northeastern Brazil), where Latin America's only active uranium mine and significant iron ore deposits are located. Although previous studies have shown that the regional soil and water resources are highly contaminated by various toxic elements and that exposure to these elements is known to have adverse effects on human health, the health risks in this mining region have never been assessed.

Background: Real-world studies have shown the sustained therapeutic effect and favourable safety profile of OnabotulinumtoxinA (BoNTA) in the long term and up to 4 years of treatment in chronic migraine (CM). This study aims to assess the safety profile and efficacy of BoNTA in CM after 5 years of treatment in a real-life setting.

Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of patients with CM in relation to BoNTA treatment for more than 5 years in 19 Spanish headache clinics.
