The prescriber should be familiar with these improvements, the anatomic and acoustic limitations related to hearing aids, the possibilities of surgical rehabilitation, as well as the indications for other auditive rehabilitation techniques (bone conduction hearing, middle ear implant, and cochlear implant). A hearing aid should be prescribed within a precise context taking into account patient history, clinical examination, audiometric testing, and choice of the device.
