Calcium intake during adolescence is important for attainment of peak bone mass. Lactose maldigestion is an autosomal recessive trait, leading to lower calcium intake. The Adequate Calcium Today study aimed to determine if a school-based targeted behavioral intervention over one year could improve calcium intake and bone mass in early adolescent girls.

Evaluation reports increasingly document the degree of program implementation, particularly the extent to which programs adhere to prescribed steps and procedures. Many reports are cursory, however, and few, if any, fully portray the long and winding path taken when developing evaluation instruments, particularly observation instruments. In this article, we describe the development of an observational method for evaluating the degree to which K-12 inquiry science programs are implemented, including the many steps and decisions that occurred during the development, and present evidence for the reliability and validity of the data that we collected with the instrument.

The utilization of hydrocortisone phonophoresis in United States Army Physical Therapy Clinics was surveyed by questionnaire in 1986. Hydrocortisone phonophoresis is a therapeutic treatment method that uses ultrasound to drive hydrocortisone into subcutaneous tissues in order to produce an anti-inflammatory effect. The treatment is used for conservative management of numerous musculoskeletal disorders that affect the military readiness of the patient.
