Objective: With the implementation of American Board of Surgery (ABS) Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), there is continued need for objective, evidence-based assessment tools to augment existing microassessments and inform readiness for entrustment. The ENTRUST Assessment Platform is an online virtual-patient simulation platform to assess trainees' surgical decision-making competence across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care. This study collects additional validity evidence for the ENTRUST platform in its relationship to other established variables in competency-based surgical education.

We examined the association between inpatient reported quality of recovery with outpatient global recovery, pain severity, pain interference, anxiety, and depression screening scores postpartum.

Introduction: Intraoperative and postoperative nausea and vomiting (IONV and PONV) are common during cesarean delivery (CD) with neuraxial anesthesia. Limited information exists on the antiemetic benefit of combined P6 acupoint stimulation with acupressure (P6 acupressure) and pharmacologic antiemetics on preventing IONV and PONV after CD. This study assessed the antiemetic efficacy of P6 acupressure compared to a non-P6 acupoint stimulation with acupressure (sham acupressure) in preventing IONV during CD.

Cholinergic stimulation is also implicated in changes in excitability that leads neurons to an increased firing frequency, however it is not clear whether TRPM4 is involved in the cholinergic-induced increase in firing frequency. Here using a combination of patch clamp electrophysiology, Ca imaging, immunofluorescence, fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and pharmacological approach, we demonstrate that carbachol (Cch) increases firing frequency, intracellular Ca and that TRPM4 inhibition using 9-Ph and CBA reduces firing frequency and decreases the peak in intracellular Ca induced by Cch in cortical pyramidal neurons in culture.
