Background: Transabdominal pre-peritoneal inguinal hernia repair using the da Vinci Single-Port robot (SP-TAPP) is currently performed in few centers. We aimed to define the learning curve for SP-TAPP by analyzing operative times.
Methods: The operative times of 122 SP-TAPP performed between 2019 and 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is a genetic disorder affecting connective tissue, often leading to cardiovascular complications such as aortic aneurysms and mitral valve prolapse. Cardiovascular multimodality imaging plays a crucial role in the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of MFS patients. This review explores the advancements in echocardiography, cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), cardiac computed tomography (CCT), and nuclear medicine techniques in MFS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFocal therapy (FT) is an emerging option for intermediate-risk prostate cancer (IR-PCa). Transperineal MRI fusion laser ablation of PCa (TPFLA) is a novel FT technique with limited data reported. We conducted a phase I clinical trial evaluating the safety, feasibility, and 1-year oncologic results for patients with IR-PCa treated with TPFLA in an office setting.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIrritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a multifactorial condition with heterogeneous pathophysiology, including intestinal permeability alterations. The aim of the present study was to assess the ability of a probiotic blend (PB) consisting of two strains (CECT7484 and CECT7485) and one strain of (CECT7483) to recover the permeability increase induced by mediators from IBS mucosal biopsies and to highlight the underlying molecular mechanisms. Twenty-one IBS patients diagnosed according to ROME IV criteria (11 IBS-D and 10 IBS-M) and 7 healthy controls were enrolled.
