Transient stages in the chemical vapor deposition of silicon carbide.

Transient CVD experiments were simulated by varying continuously the deposition temperature or the initial gas flow rates (Q(MTS) or Q(H2)). Their consequences on the physicochemical properties of the coatings have been first examined. The adhesion of SiC/SiC bilayers containing these "transient interphases" (phi(Tr)) was investigated by scratch testing.

Update to femoroacetabular impingement arthroscopic management.

Introduction: Arthroscopic treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is recommended since it is a minimally invasive procedure allowing full access to the hip joint.

Hypothesis: Arthroscopic treatment can alleviate FAI without use of a perineal support.

Goals Of The Study: To describe an early experience of hip arthroscopy in the treatment of FAI using two types of hip distraction without perineal support; to assess morbidity of FAI release under arthroscopic control and its early clinical and radiological outcome.

No recurrences in selected patients after curettage with cryotherapy for grade I chondrosarcomas.

Background: The low aggressiveness of Grade I chondrosarcomas is compatible with conservative surgical treatment.

Questions/purpose: We asked whether combined curettage and cryotherapy would yield low rates of recurrence and whether supplemental internal fixation would retain function with low rates of complications in patients with Grade I central chondrosarcomas of the proximal humerus or distal femur.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 15 patients: nine women and six men with a mean age of 45 years (range, 26-70 years).

Dual mobility cemented cups have low dislocation rates in THA revisions.

Unlabelled: THA revisions using standard cups are at risk of dislocation (5.1% to 14.4% incidence), especially in patients over 70 years of age.
