Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES; n = 186) participated in a mail survey on advocacy and public policy. Over half of participants reported that they had contacted a public official or provided policy-related information to consumers or other professionals. Participants identified barriers and benefits to influencing public policy.

Thirty-one patients with osseous involvement due to oral carcinoma who underwent panoramic radiography and bone scintigraphy were evaluated retrospectively. The diagnostic algorithm presented allows the correct categorization of the salivary gland pathology in the vast majority of patients. All patients subsequently had diagnoses proven by biopsy or surgical resection. Patients with malignant tumors (anaplastic carcinoma, malignant lymphoma, adenocarcinoma, medullary carcinoma, adenocarcinoma with squamous cell transformation, and metastases to the thyroid from other tumors) were examined serially after appropriate therapy.
