Diabetes remains one of the most prevalent chronic diseases globally, significantly impacting mortality ratetables. The development of effective treatments for controlling glucose level in blood is critical to improve the quality of life of patients with diabetes. Dissolution of Lithium Contained in Lepidolite Using Ascorbic Acid: Kinetic and Modeling Analysis.

In this work, a kinetic study and modeling of the decomposition of a rock sample in an ascorbic acid medium with a high content of lepidolite phase were carried out, the results of which are of great importance due to the sample's high lithium (Li) content. The rock sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and the mineral species detected in the sample were lepidolite, at 65.3%, quartz, at 30.

Association between functional capacity and family functionality with frailty in older adults with cardiovascular risk in southwestern Colombia.

Introduction: The changes associated with aging are multidimensional and multifactorial, with the geriatric syndrome of frailty being its most problematic and complex expression. This syndrome leads to vulnerability, disproportionate changes in health status, and functional decline, making its effective identification and comprehensive management necessary.

Association between bacterial resistance profile and the development of intra-abdominal abscesses in pediatric patients with perforated appendicitis: cohort study.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to determine the association between the presence of a microorganism resistant to the antibiotic used in empirical therapy and the development of intra-abdominal abscesses in children with perforated appendicitis.

Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in patients under 18 years of age who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy between November 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020, in whom perforated appendicitis was documented intraoperatively. Peritoneal fluid samples were taken for bacteria culture purposes, and clinical and microbiological data were collected from all patients.
