The objective of the study was to evaluate a reproduction method that would enable the study of the enamel/ bracket/composite interface in vivo, and consisted of in vitro assessment of two different impression materials to compare reproduction of brackets bonded to extracted teeth followed by in vivo assessment of the superior material. In vitro standard edgewise brackets were bonded to two extracted teeth and impressions were taken using two different types of low viscosity silicone-based impression materials. A medium viscosity silicone impression material was used to support the original impression.

The bcr gene rearrangement resulting from the Philadelphia translocation is diagnostic of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and is considered the hallmark of this myeloproliferative disorder (MPD) at the molecular level. The other MPDs, essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV), agnogenic myeloid metaplasia (AMM), and unclassified MPD, share morphologic features with CML, making the diagnosis difficult in cases with considerable morphologic overlap. In such cases, molecular analysis becomes essential for accurate diagnosis.

Indium-111 satumomab pendetide (In-111 OncoScint) planar and SPECT imaging and F-18 FDG positron emission tomography (PET) have been found individually to be helpful in the detection of recurrent colorectal and ovarian cancer, but have not been compared. Twelve patients who were examined for recurrent colorectal or ovarian carcinoma underwent both In-111 OncoScint imaging and F-18 FDG PET imaging. All had normal or equivocal results of CT or MR studies.
