Background: Data demonstrating the clinical benefit of robotic cholecystectomy over the laparoscopic approach are lacking. Herein, we aim to evaluate whether robotic cholecystectomy is associated with improved surgical outcomes compared with laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Study Design: This is a retrospective cohort study that used the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program to compare the outcomes of patients who underwent robotic or laparoscopic cholecystectomy for benign indications in 2022.

Background: Gaming can serve as an educational tool to allow trainees to practice surgical decision-making in a low-stakes environment. LapBot is a novel free interactive mobile game application that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide players with feedback on safe dissection during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). This study aims to provide validity evidence for this mobile game.

Background: Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) venous thromboembolism (VTE) prescribing practices vary widely. Our institutional VTE prophylaxis protocol has historically been unstandardized.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of suction calibration systems (SCS) and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) to see if SCS could reduce the number of stapler load firings during the procedure.
  • - Conducted as a randomized, non-blinded trial at a single academic center, the study included 125 LSG candidates and focused on endpoints like stapler load firings, operative time, reflux symptoms, and weight change, analyzed using t-tests.
  • - Results showed no significant differences between the EGD and SCS groups in terms of stapler load firings (5.43 vs. 5.31) and
