Unlabelled: Health research teams routinely face difficulties processing clinical data to determine risk profiles in susceptible populations.

Aim: Generate a risk profile of avoidable hospitalizations in older adult patients using integrated healthcare networks of the Southern Metropolitan Health Service (SSMS) of the Metropolitan Region of Chile from 2019-2021.

Methods: The present research has a retrospective longitudinal descriptive design of anonymized clinical database records from four Family Health Centers and a high-complexity South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) hospital.

The mechanics of the extracellular matrix (ECM) determine cell activity and fate through mechanoresponsive proteins including Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP). Rigidity and viscous relaxation have emerged as the main mechanical properties of the ECM steering cell behavior. However, how cells integrate coexisting ECM rigidity and viscosity cues remains poorly understood, particularly in the high-stiffness regime.

Virtual patients (VPs) are increasingly used in medical education to train clinical reasoning (CR) skills. However, optimal VP design for enhancing interactivity and authenticity remains unclear. Novel interactive modalities, such as large language model (LLM)-enhanced social robotic VPs might increase interactivity and authenticity in CR skill practice.

Article Synopsis
  • Localization optoacoustic tomography (LOT) is a new imaging technique that allows for super-resolution imaging beyond the typical limits, enabling the tracking of particles in the bloodstream.
  • Recent advancements demonstrate that submicron-sized gold nanoparticles (≈600 nm) can be detected individually, which enhances imaging capabilities while minimizing the risk of clumping, unlike larger particles.
  • The use of these nanoparticles in imaging microvascular networks in the brain could provide valuable insights into neurovascular functions and changes related to neurodegenerative diseases.
