- A total of 472 CT scans were analyzed, revealing a high prevalence of 67.6% for UHs, particularly in men, while many cases (63.6%) were unreported by radiologists.
- The study concluded that CT scans are a reliable method for diagnosing UHs, showing significant underreporting and varied sizes of the hernias in patients.
Background: Mastoid pneumatization is subject to numerous influencing factors including race, sex, and surrounding structures of the middle ear. This study aims to determine the mastoid air cell system (MACS) volume and its relationship with middle ear structures, and the influence of sex.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed analyzing computed tomography (CT) scans in which MACS volume and the Estachian tube length (ETL) were visible.
Purpose: Umbilical hernias (UH) have a higher prevalence than previously considered. With the high workload radiologists must endure, UH can be missed when interpreting a computed tomography scan (CT). The clinical implications of its misdiagnosis are yet to be determined.
