Breast Cancer Prognosis in Young BRCA1/BRCA2 Mutation Carriers: A Retrospective Hospital-based Cohort Study.

Aim: Studies evaluating the prognostic impact of germline BRCA1/2 mutations (gBRCAm) in patients with breast cancer report conflicting results. Therefore, we aimed to investigate outcomes of patients with gBRCA mutations and early onset of breast cancer (<30 years) compared with those of noncarriers.

In rare cases the implantation or use of a port-a-cath can be complicated by venous perforation or catheter-related infection. We describe a patient with these two complications resulting in mediastinitis. Removal of the device and prolonged antibiotic therapy cured the infection.

Monitoring CAR T-cells using flow cytometry.

Background: Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is considered as a major scientific breakthrough in cancer immunotherapy. The success of adoptive CAR T-cell therapy for cancer has inspired researchers to expand indications into the area of solid tumors, autoimmune and infectious diseases. The most important factors influencing outcome and durability of the response after infusion of CAR T-cell are proliferation and persistence of this cell subset.
