Although it has been observed that the triglycerides and glucose (TyG) index, a biomarker of insulin resistance, is associated with severity and morbidity by COVID-19, evidence is still scarce. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine whether the TyG index is associated with both the degree of severity and mortality by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in patients with COVID-19. Men and women aged 20 years or more with diagnosis of COVID-19 were included in a case-control study.

The Triglycerides and Glucose Index: A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Compared With the Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the triglycerides and glucose index (TyG) versus the homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) for diagnosing insulin resistance.

Methods: A cost-effectiveness analysis using a decision tree based on the false-negative and false-positive tests and the true-positive and true-negative tests of both the TyG and HOMA-IR was conducted. Based on the costs and effectiveness of both tests, the average and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios were calculated.
