Diagnosis and management of peripartum cardiomyopathy and recurrence risk.

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a rare, but serious condition, with a non-negligible risk of adverse events. Several risk factors for PPCM have been individuated over the years, including Afro-American ethnicity, preeclampsia, advanced maternal age, genetic predisposition, multiparity, twin pregnancy, obesity, smoking and diabetes. However, PPCM pathophysiology is still poorly understood, thus making it challenging to develop disease specific therapies.

Echocardiographic left atrial stiffness index predicts high left ventricular filling pressures in patients with acute heart failure: an observational study.

Background: In acute heart failure (AHF) patients, non-invasive estimation of left ventricular filling pressures (LVFPs) appears crucial to guide management. Although poorly investigated, left atrial (LA) mechanics play a pivotal role in this setting. This report sought to assess the correlation of echocardiographic LA stiffness index with invasive LVFPs and its diagnostic accuracy as compared to other parameters used in clinical practice.

Concordance and Clinical Outcomes Improvement Following Oral Hygiene Motivation: A Systematic Review and Report of the Workshop of the Italian Societies of Dental Hygiene.

A workshop on concordance and oral hygiene was held in February 2024. To address the topic, a systematic review aimed at investigating the effectiveness of motivational interventions in improving oral hygiene and focusing on periodontal clinical indices outcomes was designed. A comprehensive literature search was conducted across PubMed and Scopus electronic databases to identify relevant articles published up to 2024.

Prevalence of dentine hypersensitivity, erosive tooth wear, gingival recession and periodontal health in seven European countries.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence and associated risk indicators for dentine hypersensitivity (DH), erosive tooth wear (ETW), gingival recession (GR), and gingival inflammation (bleeding on probing, BOP), with clinical and questionnaire data from seven European countries.

Methods: A cross-sectional, observational, seven-European country, epidemiological study in systemically healthy adults. Participants completed a questionnaire regarding oral hygiene, diet and lifestyle factors.
