Introduction: Minimal change disease (MCD) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) are related podocytopathies with distinct kidney outcomes. Surprisingly, elevated urinary activation fragments have been found in FSGS despite little complement deposition on immunofluorescence (IF) staining. Whether complement activation distinguishes FSGS from MCD, participating in the development of segmental lesions, remains unknown.

Article Synopsis
  • A study analyzed the impact of molecular classification on the management of endometrial cancer patients by examining data from 1,357 cases diagnosed in 2016 across Canada, revealing significant molecular subtype diversity.
  • Only a small percentage of patients underwent necessary immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing for MMR and p53 proteins, leading to missed opportunities for early diagnosis and treatment options.
  • The findings highlight the need for standardized biomarker reporting and routine integration of molecular subtyping in pathology practice to improve patient outcomes.

The appropriate age at which to perform endometrial biopsy for abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) is controversial. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of malignant and premalignant pathologies in women aged 41-49 years with AUB and without risk factors for endometrial cancer. Records of women who had undergone a biopsy at the gynaecology clinic of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal between 2014 and 2018 were reviewed.
