Chromium pollution of groundwater sources is a growing global issue, which correlates with various anthropogenic activities. Remediation of both the Cr(VI) and Cr(III), via adsorption technologies, has been championed in recent years due to ease of use, minimal energy requirements, and the potential to serve as a highly sustainable remediation technology. In the present study, a biochar sorbent sourced from pineapple skins, allowed for the upcycling of agricultural waste into water purification technology.

Change in eating habits during the Spanish COVID-19 pandemic lockdown: evidence for a sample of university community.

Background: The stress and anxiety caused by COVID-19 lockdown may have changed the eating habits of the population. Our aim is to assess the eating changes that have taken place due to the pandemic.

Methods: Data were collected through an electronic survey created by the Health Economics Research Group of the University of Cantabria and IDIVAL and conducted between 14/01/2021 and 19/02/2021.

Thermodynamic and Kinetic study of the removal of Cu and Pb ions from aqueous solution using FeS nanomaterial.

In the present study, pyrrhotite (FeS) was investigated for the removal of Pb and Cu2 ions from aqueous solution. The FeS material was prepared through a solvothermal method and was characterized using XRD. The average particle size for the nanomaterial was determined to be 29.

Eight years' experience with the Medtronic-Hall valve prosthesis.

During the period January 1981 to September 1986, 444 Medtronic-Hall heart valve prostheses were implanted in 351 patients (mean age, 45 +/- 10 years) mainly for rheumatic valve disease (63.2%). Most of the patients were in New York Heart Association functional class III.

Pulmonary artery sling: case report and surgical management.

Surgical correction of pulmonary artery sling with vascular ring in a 2 1/2-year-old boy is described. Despite the high mortality rate of this entity, the post-operative course was uneventful and since hospital discharge, the boy has remained asymptomatic.
