Evaluation of the effect of BioFire FilmArray nested multiplex polymerase chain reaction method on rapid pathogen identification and antimicrobial stewardship in sepsis.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to assess the effect of the BioFire FilmArray Blood Culture Identification 2 panel on agent identification and antimicrobial stewardship in patients with a critical state of sepsis secondary to bloodstream infection.

Methods: This study was designed as a prospective observational study. Patients who developed sepsis and septic shock secondary to bloodstream infection in the intensive care unit were included in the study.

Türkiye, due to its position as a bridge between Asia and Europe, encompassing three distinct biogeographic regions and its diverse climatic conditions and geographical features, exhibits the characteristics of a small continent in terms of biodiversity, hosting a very high number of mammalian species. However, information on these mammals' activity patterns and co-occurrence, specifically in Türkiye, is limited. Our study aimed to reveal the daily activity patterns and temporal overlaps of mammalian species detected using camera traps in Sülüklü Lake Nature Park.

Factors influencing the prescription of add-on long-acting muscarinic antagonists in real-world asthma management: Insights from a national registry.

Current guidelines recommend adding long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, despite the use of moderate to high doses of inhaled steroid-long-acting beta agonists (ICS/LABA). This study aims to analyze the factors related to the prescription of add-on LAMA in clinical practice for asthma patients, shedding light on physicians' preferences. This study included adult asthma patients on add-on LAMA and ICS/LABA monitored for at least one year in a national registry comprising 2053 asthmatics.

Polyneuropathy With Motor Conduction Block in POEMS.

Introduction/aims: Polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes (POEMS) syndrome is a paraneoplastic syndrome due to an underlying plasma cell dyscrasia. Polyneuropathy in POEMS syndrome may present as a subacute or chronic symmetric sensorimotor polyneuropathy, with electrophysiological features suggesting demyelination. Motor conduction block (CB), which is mostly seen in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), is considered an atypical electrophysiological feature in POEMS syndrome.

Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy for Bone-Only Oligometastatic Breast Cancer: On a Quest to Find the Optimum Cohort.

Aims: We aimed to evaluate the treatment outcomes and associated prognostic factors in breast cancer (BC) patients who had bone-only oligometastatic disease (OMD) and we tried to determine the subgroup that would benefit most from stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).

Materials And Methods: We enrolled 47 patients with a total of 63 lesions with bone-only oligometastatic BC who underwent SABR for all bone lesions between July 2013 and March 2022. Cases with bone-only metastatic disease with up to 5 metastatic lesions that can be safely treated with SABR were included in this study.
