Coronary dissection is a potential occurrence after lesion preparation for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Unlike stents, drug-coated balloons (DCB) do not allow to cover dissections, thus demanding an assessment of their safety in this setting. The aim of this study was to evaluate incidence, predictors, and clinical outcomes of dissections occurring with DCB-based PCI for de novo coronary artery disease (CAD).

Objective: Infrared Thermography (IRT) has been used to monitor skin temperature variation in a contactless manner, in both clinical medicine and psychophysiology. Here, we introduce a new methodology to obtain information about autonomic correlates related to perspiration, peripheral vasomotility, and respiration from infrared recordings.

Methods: Our approach involves a model-based decomposition of facial thermograms using Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and an ad-hoc preprocessing procedure.

In addition to current challenges in food production arising from climate change, soil salinization, drought, flooding, and human-caused disruption, abrupt sunlight reduction scenarios (ASRS), e.g., a nuclear winter, supervolcano eruption, or large asteroid or comet strike, are catastrophes that would severely disrupt the global food supply and decimate normal agricultural practices.
