Association between long-term exposure to air pollutants with breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 infections and antibody responses among COVID-19 vaccinated older adults in Northern Italy.

Aims: To investigate the association between long-term exposure to PM PM NO and O with SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infections and COVID-19 vaccine-induced antibody responses in a northern Italian population-based sample of older adults.

Methods: Within an ongoing prospective population-based study, we followed-up 1326 vaccinated individuals aged 65-83 years, with no prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, for their first positive SARS-CoV-2 swab until December 31st, 2022. We assessed spike IgG antibody levels in most participants (n = 1206).

Torque Teno Virus: A Promising Biomarker in Kidney Transplant Recipients.

Torque Teno Virus (TTV) is a ubiquitous component of the human virome, not associated with any disease. As its load increases when the immune system is compromised, such as in kidney transplant (KT) recipients, TTV load monitoring has been proposed as a method to assess immunosuppression. In this prospective study, TTV load was measured in plasma and urine samples from 42 KT recipients, immediately before KT and in the first 150 days after it.

The independent and interactive effects of changes in overtime and night shifts during the COVID-19 pandemic on burnout among nurses: a longitudinal study.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the independent and interactive effects of changes in overtime and night shifts on burnout among nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Nurses working in an Italian university hospital (N=317) completed the Maslach Burnout Inventory in September 2019 and again in December 2020. Based on hospital administrative data, changes in overtime and night shifts in the same years were categorized into three groups each.

Impact of Lipoprotein(a) Level on Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol- or Apolipoprotein B-Related Risk of Coronary Heart Disease.

Background: Conventional low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) quantification includes cholesterol attributable to lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)-C) due to their overlapping densities.

Objectives: The purposes of this study were to compare the association between LDL-C and LDL-C corrected for Lp(a)-C (LDL) with incident coronary heart disease (CHD) in the general population and to investigate whether concomitant Lp(a) values influence the association of LDL-C or apolipoprotein B (apoB) with coronary events.

Methods: Among 68,748 CHD-free subjects at baseline LDL was calculated as "LDL-C-Lp(a)-C," where Lp(a)-C was 30% or 17.

Association of perceived mental health with mortality, and analysis of potential pathways in Italian men and women: Prospective results from the Moli-sani Study cohort.

Background: Perceived mental health (PMH) was reportedly associated with mortality in general populations worldwide. However, little is known about sex differences and pathways potentially linking PMH to mortality. We explored the relationship between PMH and mortality in Italian men and women, and analysed potential explanatory factors.
