Hospitalizations and emergency department visits trends among elderly individuals in proximity to death: a retrospective population-based study.

Acute healthcare services are extremely important, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, as healthcare demand has rapidly intensified, and resources have become insufficient. Studies on specific prepandemic hospitalization and emergency department visit (EDV) trends in proximity to death are limited. We examined time-trend specificities based on sex, age, and cause of death in the last 2 years of life.

Study on the health status of the population living in Marghera (Venice, Italy) through the use of a longitudinal surveillance system.

The aim of this study is to carry out an investigation to evaluate the industrial area of Porto Marghera (the only Site of National Interest - SNI - for clearance operations in the Veneto region) by means of data from the Venetian Epidemiological Surveillance System (SEIVE - Sistema Epidemiologico Integrato di Venezia). In particular, the aim is to assess the extent at which chronic exposure to industrial pollutants contributes to the genesis of non-communicable diseases such as tumors. We have employed healthcare administrative databases to analyze health conditions of the population residing in the area of Marghera, separately from the rest of the mainland.

Lack of rivaroxaban influence on a prothrombinase-based assay for the detection of activated C protein resistance: an Italian ex vivo and in vitro study in normal subjects and factor V Leiden carriers.

Introduction: Activated protein C resistance (APCr) leads to hypercoagulability and is due, often but not exclusively, to Factor V Leiden (FVL). The aim of this study was to assess the ex vivo and in vitro interference of the direct factor Xa inhibitor rivaroxaban (RIV) on a prothrombinase-based assay for APCr detection.

Methods: An ex vivo study was performed on fresh plasma samples obtained from 44 subjects with FV wild-type and seven with FVL heterozygous, all treated with RIV.

Effect of dabigatran on a prothrombinase-based assay for detecting activated protein C resistance: an ex vivo and in vitro study in normal subjects and factor V Leiden carriers.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate ex vivo and in vitro interference of a direct factor IIa inhibitor, dabigatran, on a prothrombinase-based assay to detect activated protein C resistance.

Materials And Methods: An ex vivo study was performed in six heterozygous factor V Leiden carriers and 12 normal subjects without the factor V Leiden mutation who were treated with dabigatran. An in vitro study was also performed considering 12 plasma samples (six from normal subjects and six from heterozygous factor V Leiden carriers) spiked with dabigatran.

Estimated glomerular filtration rate calculated using different creatinine and cystatin based formulas in prediction of trough plasma Dabigtran concentration.

Background: In this paper we evaluated the relationship between trough DAB concentration with eGFR calculated using CRE and CYS based formulas.

Materials And Methods: We considered 100 patients. eGFR was calculated using CKD-EPIcreat, CG, MDRD, CKD-EPIcys and CKD-EPIcombined equations.
