Closely related sympatric species commonly develop different ecological strategies to avoid competition. Ctenomys minutus and C. flamarioni are subterranean rodents parapatrically distributed in the southern Brazilian coastal plain, showing a narrow sympatric zone.

Combination of the multisyringe flow injection analysis and multipumping flow system techniques with the TRU-resin allows carrying out the sampling treatment and separation in a short time using large sample volumes. Americium is eluted from the column with 4 mol L(-1) hydrochloric acid, and then plutonium is separated via on-column Pu(IV) reduction to Pu(III) with titanium(III) chloride.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA new automatic method for preconcentration and separation of radium in water samples has been developed. Such method combines both multisyringe (MSFIA) and multi-pumping (MPFS) flow analysis techniques allowing to analyze larger sample volumes with a higher throughput than other previous methodologies. Ra adsorbed on MnO(2), deposited on cotton fiber, is eluted with hydroxylamine and subsequently coprecipitated with BaSO(4).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA multisyringe flow injection (MSFIA) method for the determination of stable and radioactive strontium, using a solid phase resin (Sr-Resin), has been developed. Strontium concentrations are determined by atomic emission spectroscopy and by a low background proportional counter. The method has been applied to different samples (water, milk and soil) of environmental interest.
