Severe periodontitis and orthodontics: How far should we go?

Severe forms of periodontitis can often result in pathological tooth migration. In such cases, orthodontic realignment is an indispensable complement to periodontal management. However, in some cases involving very advanced periodontal destruction, the question arises as to the limits of conservative treatment.

Severe periodontitis and orthodontics: evaluation of long-term results.

Unlabelled: Clinical manifestations of severe periodontitis are very often associated with tooth migration. The aim of this retrospective study is to evaluate dental bone support before orthodontic-periodontal treatment, at immediate postoperative, and long-term postoperative and to compare these results with those obtained from periodontal treatment alone. Fifteen patients (11 women and four men), all with severe periodontitis, mean age 42.

[Drug prescription and pharmacovigilance in spa therapy: a comparative study at a 20-year interval (1987 versus 2007)].

Objectives: Spa therapy is often considered as a dedicated period for a global treatment of patients. However, the prescription behaviours of spa physicians remain largely unknown.

Methods: A postal questionnaire concerning drug prescriptions during spa therapy and occurrence of adverse reactions to spa therapy was sent to the 95 spa physicians of South West of France.

Reconstruction of the lateral ankle ligaments using an inferior extensor retinaculum flap.

The aim of this study was to assess the results of 32 cases of chronic ankle instability. These were treated by ligament shortening and reinforced with an inferior extensor retinaculum flap. All patients complained of persistent functional instability unrelieved with proprioceptive exercises.
