Background Aims: In clinical practice, the reduction of porto-caval pressure gradient (PCPG) following trans-jugular intra-hepatic porto-systemic shunt (TIPS) does not always meet the recommendation of current guidance. We evaluated the impact of different degrees of PCPG reduction, measured at the end of an elective TIPS, on ascites control, recurrence of portal hypertension-related bleeding (PHRB) and survival.

Approach And Results: Cirrhotic patients receiving TIPS for refractory ascites (RA) or for the secondary prophylaxis of PHRB were consecutively enrolled.

Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to enhance healthcare practices, including periodontology, by improving diagnostics, treatment planning and patient care. This study introduces 'PerioGPT', a specialized AI model designed to provide up-to-date periodontal knowledge using GPT-4o and a novel retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system.

Methods: PerioGPT was evaluated in two phases.

From 2020 to today, considerable knowledge on SARS-CoV-2 has been collected, even on pregnant women and their fetuses and newborns, and clinical guidelines have been written and implemented worldwide. Vaccination has considerably improved outcomes, but hesitancy amongst pregnant patients and the emergence of variants remain challenging, and SARS-CoV-2 positivity during pregnancy continues to be associated with an increased risk of maternal complications, premature delivery, and higher neonatal mortality and morbidity. A body of data now exists on the effect of SARS-CoV-2 during pregnancy on early neonatal outcomes, medical education in obstetrics and pediatrics, and longer-term developmental outcomes.

Unlabelled: AIM OF THE STUDY: This systematic review aims to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and comparative outcomes of endovascular treatments for acute lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT), including catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT), pharmacomechanical thrombectomy (PMT), mechanical thrombectomy, and venous stenting, drawing insights from a diverse range of studies.

Materials And Methods: A comprehensive literature search identified 33 relevant studies, including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, systematic reviews, and case reports. Data extraction focused on study design, intervention type, outcome measures, and follow-up duration.

G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are critically regulated by arrestins. In this study, high-resolution data was combined with molecular dynamics simulations to infer the determinants of β-arrestin 1 (βarr1)-GPCR coupling, using the V2 vasopressin receptor (V2R) as a model system. The study highlighted the extremely high plasticity of βarr1-GPCR complexes, dependent on receptor type, state, and membrane environment.
