The brain can remarkably adapt its decision-making process to suit the dynamic environment and diverse aims and demands. The brain's flexibility can be classified into three categories: flexibility in choosing solutions, decision policies, and actions. We employ two experiments to explore flexibility in decision policy: a visual object categorization task and an auditory object categorization task.

This meta-analysis aimed to establish normal values of two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2DSTE)-derived LA phasic strains and strain rates in the pediatric population and identify the sources of inter-study heterogeneity for these values. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Scopus, and Embase databases was conducted using keywords such as "left atrial/left atrium," "strain/speckle/deformation," and "echocardiography" combined with pediatric age categories.

Background: Alteration in the etiology of pediatric bloodstream infections (BSIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is not well known during the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pediatric BSIs and alteration in antimicrobial resistance phenotypes in Gram-positive bacteria.

Methods: The frequency of BSIs among children under 18 years old was retrospectively recorded in a tertiary children's hospital in Tehran, Iran from February 2020 to December 2022.
