Intraarticular TXA Administration with Appropriate Timing of Clamping and Appropriate Dose is More Effective Than IV Administration.

Purpose Of The Study: Our aim was to compare the effects of intraarticular and intravenous (IV) tranexemic acid (TXA) application on bleeding and complication rates in patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Material And Methods: Between 2017 and 2021, 406 patients who underwent TKA with 2 g of IV TXA and retrograde 1.5 g of TXA applied through the drain were included in the study.

Toxicity of commercial and pure forms of three nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in embryos before and after ozonation.

In this study, the toxic and teratogenic effects of three commercial drugs and their active ingredients on embryos before and after ozonation were evaluated using the Frog Embryos Teratogenesis Assay- (FETAX). First, the median lethal concentration (LC) and, if data were available, the median effective concentration, teratogenic index and minimum growth inhibitory concentration were determined for each drug substance without ozonation. Then, the active substance amounts of three selected nominal concentrations (LC/2, LC, and LC×2) of each test substance before ozonation were measured by HPLC analysis and the toxicity of these substances was evaluated after 2, 3, 4, and 5 h of ozonation.

Comparison of treatment efficacy of omega-3 fish oil and montelukast in ovalbumin-protease-induced allergic rhinitis model in rats.

Objectives: Montelukast is a well-known leukotriene receptor antagonist commonly used in treating allergic rhinitis and asthma. Omega-3 fatty acid is also known as an antiallergic and immunomodulator molecule. This study aimed to elucidate the efficacy of systemic montelukast and omega-3 fatty acid treatment in allergic rhinitis models in Wistar Hannover rats.

Placement of Standard Sized Acetabular Cup Between True and False Acetabulum in Patients with Crowe III/IV Dysplasia: A Safe Option in THA Without Femoral Osteotomy.

Introduction: There is no consensus in literature on the surgical treatment of patients with Crowe type III/IV patients. Each arthroplasty procedure has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this study by placing the acetabular cup between the true and false acetabulum, we aimed to share our experience about criteria of patient selection, surgical technique, and mid-term results of THA (total hip arthroplasty) in which the risk of dislocation was minimized using a standard-sized acetabular cup.

Evaluation of Thyroidectomy Results Performed at a Tertiary Academic Center.

Objective: The aim of the study was to retrospectively analyze the patients who underwent thyroidectomy at a tertiary academic center regarding their surgical indications, histopathological diagnosis, and surgical complications.

Methods: The study included a total of 739 consecutive patients who underwent lobectomy, total thyroidectomy, or completion thyroidectomy performed under intraoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of Dokuz Eylül University between January 2009 and December 2019. Demographic data of the patients, preoperative clinicopathological characteristics, postoperative complications, characteristics of surgery and histopathological results were evaluated.
