Flap surgery is an integral part of plastic surgery, and ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury significantly affects the viability of the flap. Carvedilol (CRV), a nonselective beta-blocker with alpha-1 blocking and antioxidant properties, and known for its potential in reducing I/R damage, was chosen as the active substance for our study. The aim of this study was to investigate the vasodilator and antioxidant effects of CRV on rat inferior epigastric artery skin flap using orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs).

In vitro degradation, swelling, and bioactivity performances of in situ forming injectable chitosan-matrixed hydrogels for bone regeneration and drug delivery.

Injectable, tissue mimetic, bioactive, and biodegradable hydrogels offer less invasive regeneration and repair of tissues. The monitoring swelling and in vitro degradation capacities of hydrogels are highly important for drug delivery and tissue regeneration processes. Bioactivity of bone tissue engineered constructs in terms of mineralized apatite formation capacity is also pivotal.

Synthesis of fully bio-based poly (3-hydroxybutyrate)-oligo-2-ethyl oxazoline conjugates.

This work refers to the synthesis and characterization of poly (3-hydroxybutyrate)-b-oligo (2-ethyl oxazoline) (oligoEtOx). Cationic ring-opening polymerization of 2-ethyl oxazoline yielded poly (2-ethyl oxazoline) (oligoEtOx) with a hydroxyl end. Carboxylic acid-terminated PHB was reacted with oligoEtOx via dicyclohexylcarbodiimide chemistry to obtain PHB-b-oligoEtOx conjugates.

Protective effects of hesperidin in gastric damage caused by experimental ischemia-reperfusion injury model in rats.

Purpose: This study evaluated the protective effect of hesperidin on injury induced by gastric ischemia-reperfusion.

Methods: Fifty male Sprague Dawley rats (250-300 g) were divided into five groups: control (C), sham (S), ischemia (I), ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) and hesperidin + ischemia-reperfusion (Hes + I/R). Hesperidin was injected intraperitoneally at the dose of 100 mg/kg one hour before the experimental stomach ischemia-reperfusion.
