Unlabelled: Summary
Objective: Uterine serous carcinoma (USC) is an aggressive, histological subtype of endometrial cancer with a poor prognosis. This study evaluates the additional effect of staging surgery above total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (TAH+BSO) on the use of adjuvant therapy and subsequent survival outcomes in clinical early-stage USC patients.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective cohort study includes 75 women treated for clinical early-stage USC.
Background: Recent studies suggested an improved overall survival (OS) for BRCA2- versus BRCA1-associated epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), whereas the impact of chemotherapy is not yet clear. In a nationwide cohort, we examined the results of primary treatment, progression-free survival (PFS), treatment-free interval (TFI), and OS of BRCA1 versus BRCA2 EOC patients.
Methods: Two hundred and forty-five BRCA1- and 99 BRCA2-associated EOC patients were identified through all Dutch university hospitals.
Background: Tumorigenesis in hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) differs from that in sporadic colorectal cancer during the early stage. We examined the expression of proliferation- and apoptosis-regulating proteins in relation to proliferation and apoptosis in HNPCC and sporadic adenomas.
Methods: Proliferation and apoptosis were quantified, and the expression of cyclin B1, D3 and E, p21, p27, bcl-2, bax, p53 and cox-2 was determined by immunohistochemistry in 100 patients (42 with HNPCC and 48 with sporadic adenomas).
Unlabelled: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, e.g. sulindac have been extensively studied for chemoprevention in familial adenomatous polyposis, but not in hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC).

There is strong evidence that tumorigenesis in HNPCCs differs from sporadic ones. HNPCC-related endometrial cancers are less well studied.
