Background: This study aimed to compare the incidence of bleeding using two periodontal treatment protocols in patients with recent Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).

Material And Methods: This is an interim analysis of a double-blind controlled clinical trial evaluating two periodontal treatment schemes in patients with recent ACS treated with different dual antiplatelet regimens: Clopidogrel+ASA, Prasugrel+ASA and Ticagrelor+ASA. After randomisation six patients (22 quadrants) were treated with Scheme A (scaling and root planning-SRP) and six patients (21 quadrants) with Scheme B (ultrasonic scaling-US).

Background: Endotoxaemia is a common condition in equids, frequently accompanied by alterations in haemostasis. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as meloxicam, have been proven to alleviate some signs of endotoxaemia in donkeys. Neither the haemostatic response to induced endotoxaemia nor the effect of meloxicam in this regard have been described in donkeys.

Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) in donkeys is observed to be secondary to colic, diarrhea or pleuropneumonia, among other disorders. Horses with SIRS develop secondary disturbances such as hyperlipemia, laminitis, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy, and hemodynamic and cardiac derangements, which impair their prognosis and increase the mortality rate. In donkeys, no information is available on the effect of experimentally induced endotoxemia in the cardiovascular system.

Previous studies have demonstrated that text message reminders can improve pediatric vaccination rates, including low income & diverse settings such as those served by federally qualified health centers. In this study, we aimed to improve compliance with routine childhood immunizations via a text message intervention in a network of urban, federally qualified health centers at a large academic medical center. We targeted parents or guardians of children aged 0-2 years who were overdue or due within 14 days for at least one routine childhood immunization without a scheduled appointment.

Article Synopsis
  • Linking mothers to their newborns in health records helps assess the effects of policies and treatments on health over generations, but privacy issues limit access to traditional identifiers.
  • A new scalable linking algorithm that uses Medicaid claims data without direct identifiers successfully connects mothers and infants while maintaining privacy.
  • The algorithm linked 11.68 million mother-infant pairs across 50 states over 19 years, enabling important research on health determinants and the impact of public policy on families.
