We describe a case of persistent microscopic hematuria as initial finding in incomplete Still's disease or Wissler-Fanconi syndrome. Renal biopsy findings were compatible with intravascular coagulation. Wissler-Fanconi syndrome and the associated renal abnormalities are briefly reviewed.

The authors discuss the different approaches in surgical treatment of choanal atresia. They describe a method of endonasal approach under optic control. In this method an opening in the bony atresia is made via the nasal cavity with the aid of a surgical microscope and micro-instruments, while the posterior wall of the atretic plate is observed by means of a 110 degrees endoscope via the nasopharynx.

The authors draw the attention on the existence of dyskinetic and immotile cilia in patients with chronic respiratory infections of unknown origin. The study of the ultrastructure of the ciliae is done by a transmission electron microscope. It is very important to make a difference between primary and acquired anomalies.

Thirty induced pain cries from the same number of infants with infectious or congenital disorders of the larynx (infectious laryngitis, laryngomalacia, paresis of the recurrent nerve and subglottic stricture) have been analyzed by means of sound spectrography. For each cry 21 phonetic features have been evaluated. This cry material was then compared with 120 pain cries from healthy infants.
