Over-consumption of dietary fat has been suggested to promote the development and progression of prostate cancer in men. Purpose: p27 is an important cell cycle regulator, and decreased expression in radical prostatectomy specimens is associated with an increased risk of prostate specific antigen (PSA) failure. To our knowledge no prior study has shown that preoperative p27 status independently predicts recurrence after radical prostatectomy.

Objective: To assess intralesional vulvar injections of triamcinolone as an alternative to using topical treatment.

Study Design: This was an open trial, in eight patients, of intralesional injection of triamcinolone in patients with symptomatic lichen sclerosus who could not use primary topical treatments. The patients' pretreatment and posttreatment clinical symptoms and gross physical findings were reviewed.

The authors report the occurrence of vascular occlusion due to hyperhomocysteinemia without significant underlying atherosclerotic disease. This unique observation supports the potential of hyperhomocysteinemia to induce thrombosis and the independence of the thrombosis from hyperhomocysteinemia's associated atherosclerosis. The case demonstrates the clinical relevance of the effects of hyperhomocysteinemia on the coagulation cascade.
