COVID-19 mRNA vaccination, reactogenicity, work-related absences and the impact on operating room staffing: A cross-sectional study.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption to healthcare delivery worldwide including in the delivery of surgical services. The introduction of mRNA COVID vaccines and the significant reactogenicity seen with vaccination has caused an unanticipated impact on the operating room workforce via unanticipated paid time off after employee vaccination.

Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional survey was made available to approximately 33,000 front-line healthcare workers, students and volunteers who were offered voluntary vaccination in a state-wide healthcare system during phase one of the state's vaccine roll-out.

Neck paraganglioma and follicular lymphoma: a case report.

Background: Paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas are sympathetic or parasympathetic tumors derived from the paraganglia and the adrenal medulla, respectively. Paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas can be sporadic or familial, the latter frequently being multifocal and possibly due to succinate dehydrogenase complex genes mutations. In addition, 12% of sporadic paragangliomas are related to covered succinate dehydrogenase complex mutations.

Paravertebral Block for Thoracic Surgery.

Unlabelled: Local anesthetic injected into a wedge-shaped space lateral to the spinal nerves as they emerge from the intervertebral foramina produces somatosensory and sympathetic nerve blockade effective for anesthesia and for managing pain of unilateral origin from the chest and abdomen. Paravertebral blockade (PVB) is versatile and may be applied unilaterally or bilaterally. Unlike thoracic epidural, the PVB technique may be used to avoid contralateral sympathectomy, thereby minimizing hypotension and leading to better preservation of blood pressure.

[The assessment of nurses satisfaction for an organization that values posts and professional responsibilities].

Unlabelled: To assess the effectiveness of a new organizational model for professional development, that assigns and financially rewards 12 positions that encompass specific responsibilities (such as responsible of Evidence based Nursing; expert in pressure ulcers, responsible of the newly employed nurses), nurses' satisfaction was measured.

Method: From November to December 2003 the MC Closey Muller Satisfaction Questionnaire was administered to all the nurses in service in the wards. Levels of satisfaction of nurses with and without specific responsibilities were compared.
