Background: Research in fluid therapy and perioperative hemodynamic monitoring is difficult and expensive. The objectives of this study were to summarize these topics and to prioritize these topics in order of research importance.
Methods: Electronic structured Delphi questionnaire over three rounds among 30 experts in fluid therapy and hemodynamic monitoring identified through the Fluid Therapy and Hemodynamic Monitoring Subcommittee of the Hemostasis, Transfusion Medicine and Fluid Therapy Section of the Spanish Society of Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
Introduction: There have been several studies focusing on caloric intake during the last years, while protein content relevance has been underestimated. Some recent evidence has shown that protein deficiency has also an impact on patient outcomes. We have studied the nitrogen (N) content in parenteral nutrition (PN) bags administered to adult patients in a Spanish tertiary level hospital for four years.

We recommend their early introduction in the course of the disease, and starting with a dose of 30-35mL/kg/h.

The option of rapid reduction in triglyceride concentrations is attractive and possible with plasmapheresis.
Methods: We present the results of an analysis of 11 patients admitted to the intensive care unit with severe hypertriglyceridemic pancreatitis and treated with plasmapheresis.
