Parents' Experience in an Italian NICU Implementing NIDCAP-Based Care: A Qualitative Study.

: The birth of a preterm infant and his/her immediate admittance to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) are sudden, unexpected, stressful and painful events for parents. In the last decade, in response to the increased awareness of the stressful experiences of parents, much attention has been paid to Family-Centered Care (FCC) and the implementation of the Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP). According to the NIDCAP model, the infant-parents' dyad is the core of the care provided by the NICU professionals to reduce the stress experienced by parents.

A biomimetic enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (BELISA) for the analysis of gonadorelin by using molecularly imprinted polymer-coated microplates.

An original biomimetic enzyme-linked immunoassay (BELISA) to target the small peptide hormone gonadorelin is presented. This peptide has been recently listed among the substances banned in sports by the World Antidoping Agency (WADA) since its misuse by male athletes triggers testosterone increase. Hence, in response to this emerging issue in anti-doping controls, we proposed BELISA which involves the growth of a polynorepinephrine (PNE)-based molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) directly on microwells.

Immune and autoimmune disorders in HCV chronic liver disease: personal experience and commentary on literature.

HCV chronic liver disease can be associated with a plethora of immune and autoimmune perturbations and many authors claim that HCV chronic infection can play an important role in the pathogenesis of these disorders. To compare our experience with literature reports, we performed a retrospective study on the case histories of 265 patients with HCV chronic liver disease, evaluating the type and prevalence of the associated immune and autoimmune manifestations. We found that the patients with HCV chronic liver disease can present arthromyalgias (7.
