Reliability of clinical examination for the assessment of obstetric anal sphincter injuries. A comparative study with 3D endoanal ultrasonography.

Objective: Anal incontinence (AI) affects up to 40% of women who sustained obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIs) due to persistent defects after primary repair or undiagnosed lesions. Aim of our research was to assess the reliability of clinical assessment of OASIs at the delivery as compared to three-dimensional endoanal ultrasonography (3D-EAUS).

Methods: An observational prospective study was conducted between December 2015 and December 2022.

Oligometastatic Urothelial Cancer and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy: A Systematic Review and an Updated Insight of Current Evidence and Future Directions.

Background: Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is the most commonly used metastasis-directed therapy (MDT) for oligometastatic urothelial carcinoma (omUC). Despite efforts in defining this disease entity, open questions remain concerning the role of MDT and the use of biomarkers, imaging, and its combination with systemic therapies. The aim of the present systematic review is to provide an updated overview of the current clinical evidence on SBRT for omUC in terms of survival and local control benefits.

Metabolic Imaging for Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning: The Role of Hybrid PET/MR Imaging.

The use of hybrid PET/MR imaging for radiotherapy treatment planning has the potential to reduce tumor and organ displacements caused by different scan times and setup changes. Although with mixed results mainly due to single-center studies with small sample size, PET/MR imaging could provide better target delineation, especially by reducing coregistration discrepancies on computed tomography simulation scan and offering better soft tissue contrast. The main limitation to drive stronger conclusions is due to the relatively low availability of hybrid PET/MR imaging systems, mainly limited to large academic centers.
