Extreme weather events, such as heavy rainfall and typhoons, are becoming more frequent due to climate change and can significantly impact coastal microbial communities. This study examines the short-term alterations in microbial food webs-viruses, bacteria, picophytoplankton, nanoflagellates, ciliates, and diatom-following Typhoon Krathon in Taiwan's coastal waters in October 2024. Daily in situ sampling revealed a significant post-typhoon increased in viral, nanoflagellate, and Synechococcus spp.

Researchers have modified PLA materials to enhance their mechanical properties and meet the clinical requirements. However, the strength and stiffness of PLA are still significantly lower than those of metals. Building on the established chevron clinical procedure and considering the mechanical characteristics of PLA screws, we devised a modified chevron osteotomy (MCO) based on a load-reducing structure with the aim of reducing the load on the screws.

The built environment of old residential neighborhoods poses heightened perceived traffic risks for school-aged children due to their limited cognitive ability to assess hazards, underdeveloped understanding of traffic patterns, and inadequate infrastructure in these areas. However, studies on the impacts of neighborhood environments on children's traffic risk perceptions remain limited. This study aims to reveal the influence of individual attributes, as well as macro- and micro-level environmental factors, on children's risk perception using a hierarchical ordered logit model with random effects.

Background: Disorders of the coagulation pathway are triggered in patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries in the early stages. There are multiple early coagulation indices identified to correlate with adverse outcomes.

Method: A retrospective analysis of patients with severe burn and inhalation injuries from 12 centers in mainland China was performed to identify early changed coagulation indices with predictive value associated with four major 28-day adverse outcomes (death, anticoagulation, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy) by logistic regression.

Background: Anemia is a prevalent health issue among children and adolescents worldwide, with malnutrition being one of the most common causes. Nutrition-related anemia can be prevented or controlled through targeted interventions.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nutrition interventions on ferritin concentration, hemoglobin concentration, anemia prevalence, and nutritional anemia prevalence in infants, children, and adolescents-and to compare outcomes by intervention and age group using network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
